... For those of you wondering, or for those who may have heard by now I recently suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke caused by an unexplained brain hemorrhage after the burst of a cerebral cavernous malformation (blood vessel/vein tangle) on my brain...it’s not a great way to spend the holiday but after weeks in neuro ICU & The Cleveland Clinic, laying 20 hours a day alone in bed, a lot of praying, and several very emotionally tough days in a rehabilitation center relearning how to walk, function, and use my left hand again (and learning BIG TIME to appreciate the importance of the non-dominant hand), and A LOT of emotional support from friends and family...I’m finally home! Apologies in advance for the long rant about to come on APPRECIATING YOUR HEALTH!! Never in a million years did I think that at 22 I would have to deal with a medical condition, let alone a stroke, so severe and mentally-tiring that it would make me appreciate SO much having the ability to walk, talk, SMILE, go to work (and to anyone hating going to work lately I can confirm that laying in bed all day everyday watching Netflix/TV and sleeping is much, much worse no matter how appealing it may sound after a long day or week - but hey, I also love my job
Post Update. Here is a video that Abby's good friend and roommate made for her for her post-surgery recovery:
