Business Magazine Cover Story

http://issuu.com/mbabusinessmagazine/docs/businessmagazinejanuary2015-new_2_?e=6754552%2F10642105I made the cover of a regional business magazine! Well, me and almost 100 of my fellow employees at Logistics Plus. Our company was featured in the January 2015 issue of Business Magazine published by the Manufacturer & Business Association (a regional organization in PA). I'm the guy in the back, upper left part of the photo.

If you're interested to learn more about our company, you can read the magazine online here (or click on the magazine cover to the right). The feature tells how Logistics Plus, a worldwide freight management and logistics solutions company, has become one of the nation's fastest-growing private companies, operating its global headquarters in the historic Union Station in Erie, PA.

Happy New Year!

Okay, I'm a little lackadaisical and late on my personal blogging this year. As I mentioned in my 2014 introduction, I will not be redesigning the blog every year - the current version is meant to be evergreen (unlike 2008-2013 which are all available in the sidebar menu to the right). In fact, I anticipate this blog will only be updated periodically for the next two years as Andrew finishes his junior and senior years of high school. However, until then, there are still a lot of great memories to be captured and shared here with our family and friends.

Looking forward to the coming year, Andrew will finish out his sophomore year at high school, as well as his 2014-15 hockey season. Then in the fall he'll start his junior year (and, presumably, the 2015-16 hockey season). I am sure he'll be attending a few school dances this year - but whether it's with a girl or not, we'll have to wait and see. Also, Andrew will start driving with his permit in early 2015 and then in August, when he turns 16, he'll get his official driver's license. Yikes! (maybe time to get a job too?)

Abby will finish her freshman year of college this year at KSU, hopefully work a lot this coming summer, and then start back up with college again in the fall as she continues her fashion design/merchandise education. Next year she'll be living in off-campus apartments with three of her girlfriends. They sound pretty swanky too - they'll all have their own bedrooms and bathrooms, a community pool, a rec room, a theatre room, a computer room ... definitely not like my college years at all.

Karen continues her ninth (or is tenth?) year at Woodbine Products this year; while I will enter my  first full year with my new company, Logistcs Plus, where I am looking forward to launching a new website and helping them grow. Other then that, I'm sure there will be some baseball stadiums and vacations in the mix - just not sure where exactly yet (somewhere warm sounds pretty good right now). I'm also looking forward to my annual poker fest tournament with "the guys," while I'm sure Karen and the kids are looking forward to their annual July trip to "the Ott cabin."

Whatever lies ahead, we wish all of our family and friends the very best in 2015 - happy New Year!

2014 Year in Review

It's hard to believe how much can happen in one year. As I have done in year's past, I went through and grabbed photos from throughout the year for a short, year-in-review recap. As I look back at 2014 a lot of stuff happened, including:
  • Andrew finished out his freshman year of high school (his first year on the high school hockey team)
  • Abby and Andrew both attended the Winter Formal dance - with dates!
  • Abby finished out her Irish dancing career with a number of St. Patrick's Day performances, dance-outs, and the Rhythm of Ireland show.
  • Abby turned 18 and received her first automobile
  • All four of us enjoyed a work/vacation in Savannah, GA in April.
  • Abby attended her senior prom dance and graduated from high school with honors
  • Abby started her first job at Chipotle
  • Dad traveled to Dallas, TX for a conference (where he won a marketing award) and attended his 29th major league baseball stadium
  • We started a new tradition of lounge chairs on Lake Frogerick
  • Karen and the kids attended the Ott cabin for their usual summer activities (swimming, fishing, boating, etc.)
  • All four of us took our family, summer vacation to Boston, MA in August where we did some site-seeing, museum touring, ocean fishing, shopping, eating, and more.
  • Andrew celebrated his 15th birthday
  • Abby moved into the dorms and started her first year at college
  • I took on a new job opportunity in Erie, PA
  • We all traveled to Tennessee for Jessica and Timmy's wedding in October
  • Andrew started his sophomore year of high school and attended the homecoming dance (without Abby)
  • Abby joined the Delta Zeta sorority on campus
  • Andrew started his second year of high school hockey
  • To end the year, the Hollywood Four made their usual rounds from Ohio to Michigan and back again for the holidays
Yup, that was a busy 2014. Here are just a few of the memories. I wonder what's in store for 2015?

Our 2014 Christmas Travels

As has been tradition for the past 18+ years, the Hollywood Four had an full itinerary this Christmas season. It began with our own family Christmas in Medina (just dad, mom, Abby and Andrew); followed by Christmas in Big Rapids, MI with Grandma Carole (with a special appearance by Marge and Dave Hall); then Christmas in Brighton, MI with the "Ott" family; and then, in conclusion, a hockey tournament in Mentor, OH directly afterwards. Here are some photographic and video highlights (mostly chronological, but a few clips were misplaced). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
