Carole Frederick 1934-2015

My mother passed away on April 8, 2015. It was a quick but peaceful passing (caused by pneumonia and then heart failure); and I thank God that mom was able to hold on for me to be there (with my two surviving siblings). This Saturday we celebrated mom's life and the many people she touched. It was a low-key memorial, and I wasn't really sure who or how many people would show up. Not surprisingly, there were many people who came to remember Carole Elizabeth Wichman-Frederick and her life. Past friends from Big Rapids High School; former colleagues from the Mecosta County Clerks Office, and other county friends; many of her dear friends, such as Doris and Loren Godbold, and Marge and David Hall; family members from as far away as Arizona, California, Ohio, Oregon, and Virginia, and many more from around the state; and, of course, Jack Seidelman, who was so good to her for many years (and many more family and friends, too many to name).

It was a nice, quiet celebration - just as mom would have wanted it; and she would have loved to see the entire family together again. She was a beautiful but flawed woman, and she made many mistakes in life; but one of her most prevailing qualities was her selflessness - she often sacrificed so much in the way of her time, energy, money and love for the betterment of her family and friends. She was also a very funny lady, and she loved to laugh. While she may not have been the most religious of people, I know in my heart that she believed in God and Jesus Christ - and that if you also believe - you know that she is reunited with her mother, my grandma Lee, and her two brothers, my uncle Ed and Jerry, and her son, my brother Jerry, all of whom she loved very much. Rest in peace mom. We loved you tender, we loved you sweet, and you will always be on our minds.
